Ragland Fabric Group is a family-owned and managed company based in Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu-Natal.

We strive to supply you with the best service at all times and we keep our prices as low as possible, to keep you coming back for more.

Ragland Fabric Group is made up of three businesses, which are all linked by the common denominator: fabric and décor.

Humble beginnings

Peter Soar, our founder, began Ragland in 1973 when he decided to start selling fabric by mail order. He would travel to the residential areas of Durban with his samples and take his business door to door.

As sales increased, he was able to hire more staff and eventually opened a small retail store, which has since grown into a fabric and textiles superstore.

The business is currently run by Peter’s son, Jordan, and has expanded to offer a wide range of fabrics, from craft, fashion and quilting fabrics, to curtain, upholstery and décor,

Ragland also has taken on a cut length business partnering with some leading brands in upholstery such as General Stuart Graham and Fabric Library to name a few.

Haberdashery and sewing notions and supplies still form a big part of our business. All these products are available for retail, as well as a growing wholesale side of the business.

The final value added ingredient to the business is the in-house manufacture of Roman blinds, table linen and napkins to the hospitality trade, and curtaining offered to the public along with friendly staff able to call on you in your home to assist you with a measure up as well as help with advice on bringing your dream to reality at an affordable rate. A new exclusive range of window drapery is also offered and installations available.
